YBOR CITY – The Krewe of Sant’ Yago hosted its annual Knight Parade on Saturday night in Ybor City.
The Krewe of Sant’ Yago has been hosting the Knight Parade since 1974. The parade raises awareness for the Krewe’s Education Foundation, which the Krewe started to support Latin American students through college. The foundation is the top provider of scholarships to Latino Americans in the Tampa Bay area, according to its website.
“We try to make sure we are promoting Latin heritage in Ybor City. Our education foundation is our big push we do all year long,” said Joe Parrino, the parade chairman.
USF exhibits 50-year-old artworks
TAMPA – The Offset exhibit is being revealed at University of South Florida Contemporary Art Museum.
The museum is showcasing works from the late graphic artist Robert Rauschenberg in collaboration with former Dean of the College of Arts Donald Saff. The exhibit features over forty sculptures and prints from Rauschenberg. It will be open through March 2.
“We’re also interspersing a few other artworks from other artists that are influenced by Rauschenberg or have a similar style or fit in… and show Rauschenberg’s legacy because he was a very important artist, so we see that legacy. And there are artists making work just a couple of years ago here,” said Mark Fredricks, the curator of the exhibit.
