ZooTampa welcomes a new resident

ZooTampa at Lowry Park has just welcomed a new resident, a Southern Vested Tamandua.
AJ, a seven-month-old anteater, is the newest member of the animal ambassador program. She is currently training to feel more comfortable around people before the zoo introduces her to the public.
The program features a wide range of animals for guest interactions and educational shows. Keely Rice, an animal ambassador team member, said the program aims to build connections between animals and the zoo visitors.
“So you guys can come by every day, see something new, and learn about our lovely animals,” Rice said.
AJ will join her fellow anteater, Gus, in the program. Animal ambassadors interact with guests throughout the zoo and during wildlife connections and encounters.
