(ORLANDO) The Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists (FABJ) has recognized the work of four USF Zimmerman School students who produced a podcast on Amendment 3, the failed initiative that sought to legalize marijuana in the state.

Hosts David Del Purgatorio and Laneisha Green along with Producer Luciana Cordero and Reporter/Audio Engineer Christian Ibáñez accepted the award over the weekend during a special ceremony at the Rosen Centre in Orlando. All of the students were part of Team Cornish as part of their Radio & Podcasting class last fall. The team is named in honor of CNN Anchor Audie Cornish (she was formerly with NPR as co-host of All Things Considered).

“(It was) such and incredible experience,” said podcast host Laneisha Green on LInkedIn.
Podcast host Luciana Cordero agreed, “Producing this podcast was an outstanding experience… I am beyond grateful for this honor and for the opportunities the University of South Florida has given me.”

It is the first time the USF Zimmerman School has been recognized by this professional media association. The Z School Seniors competed against other college journalists throughout the state for this coveted award.
