USF has officially named Bryan Hodgson the new head coach for the school’s men’s basketball team.
Hodgson comes from Arkansas State University, where he was the head coach for two seasons.
He has been coaching since 2010 and is one of the nation’s top recruiters.
Hodgson said in a press release that he believes USF is committed to building a winning culture.
He is coming off a back-to-back 20-game win season.
“Can’t wait to get started and meet everybody. I’m extremely appreciative and fired up about this opportunity. I’ll see y’all shortly. Horns up,” Hodgson said in an Instagram video.
President Rhea Law said in a press conference on Friday that Hodgson’s success and his understanding of the importance of community engagement made him the right choice.
USF athletics director Michael Kelly said he also believes Hodgson is the right leader to take the basketball program to new heights.
“We couldn’t ask for a better partner,” Kelly said.
Hodgson said last week was a “dream come true.”
“I was offered several jobs… but I can tell you this: none of them compared in any way, shape or form to the University of South Florida,” Hodgson said.
