Sixteen professional sand sculptors from various corners of the world have converged to bring to life the much-anticipated “Sands of Time” exhibition.

Housed in a vast 21,000-square-foot structure, this year marks the tenth anniversary of the event.

Artist Randy Croft expressed his enthusiasm for the event dubbing it one of the finest sand sculpture showcases globally.

“In my humble opinion, this is one of the best sand sculpture events in the country, probably in the world,” said Croft.

For a month-long residency in Clearwater, the sculptors receive compensation covering their sculpting efforts, transportation, housing and meals alongside a share of ticket sales. Together they mold and shape over 1,000 tons of sand to craft the intricate pieces on display.

Sculptor Chris Guinto shares his approach.

“They tell us ahead of time what we’ll be sculpting, but until we see the pile of sand, it’s all in our heads,” said Guinto “Sometimes you spend a day shoveling and trying to get the shape you want, and then it evolves completely as you go on.”

The festival is open until April 14 with tickets priced at 14 dollars. For those interested, further details are available at SugarSandFestival.com.

Step up for Tampa’s kids

In a bid to support the youth in Tampa the “Heart and Sole Shoe Drive” initiative has been launched, aiming to collect new or gently used sneakers for children throughout the community.

The primary objective of this drive is to ensure the well-being of Tampa’s children by providing them with adequate footwear to participate in activities, play safely, and boost their confidence.

You can help stock up this shoe closet by dropping off your sneakers and shoes at any Tampa Police Office or Headquarters.

Each shoe donated is helping Tampa walk with confidence.

This endeavor not only addresses a basic necessity but also reinforces the spirit of compassion and solidarity within Tampa.
