The Mercy Full Project is a nonprofit organization based in the Tampa Bay area and is dedicated to animal rescue. Founded in October 2019 by Heydi Acuna, who serves as director, the organization has helped foster dogs and cats from a variety of situations throughout the community.

“The idea was to create more of a community instead of just being a rescue or a shelter,” Acuna said.

Through its foster program, families care for animals while The Mercy Full Project searches for permanent homes. During that time, the organization learns about each animal’s personality, preferences and needs, helping provide adopters with better insight. Acuna said her main goal is to keep dogs and cats out of kennels, where many do not thrive.
