The Tampa Bay Lightning ranks among the best in the National Hockey League (NHL) when it comes to its impact on local tourism.

A study done by PlayStar revealed the Bolts are ranked seventh, behind teams such as the Detroit Red Wings and the New York Rangers.

This means that every time there is a home game, the Lightning fans are helping grow the city’s economy.

Amalie Arena, home of the Lightning, holds 19,092 seats for NHL games.

For every home game, the fans bring in nearly 2 million dollars for the city of Tampa, including hotel and meal expenditures, according to the study.

The team has 42 home games this season, which is an estimated 84 million dollars in economic opportunities for the Bay Area.

Amalie Arena is located less than half a mile away from Sparkman Wharf, the Tampa Riverwalk and the Florida Aquarium.

This means there are plenty of opportunities for businesses to cash in on game days.
