TAMPA- A Life Worth Living club hosted a paint and sip to connect students with each other and spread love by making Valentine’s Day cards on Wednesday, February 12.
Members of the A.L.L club at USF gathered in the psychology building to paint for their loved ones. Some students painted cards for their significant others, friends, family members or even themselves. Attendees were encouraged to paint or doodle whatever they wanted to. Other students simply participated by painting other forms of art. While this was a Valentine’s Day event, the club ensured that it was enjoyable in all aspects.
“I had such a great time painting, it gave me an escape from my schoolwork,” said attendee Valentina Gianella. “I stopped by with my friends and we painted cards for each other.”
For many attendees this event provided them with a much-needed break from stresses and schoolwork. The event was a space for students to connect with others, share stories, laugh and experience creating something personal to maybe give to someone they love. A few students did not have time to stay for the whole experience but instead stopped by to talk to their fellow club members, maybe created a quick painting or came to grab food or drinks. A.L.L. knows that college students are extremely busy and may not have time to attend every event or meeting.
Food and drinks were provided to anyone who attended the event. Sandwiches, fruit and mocktails were served. The event was about an hour and a half long, which was just enough time for students to stop by, paint and talk to one another, but also did not disrupt other plans they had.
As attendees entered the event they were greeted with a warm welcome and atmosphere. Tables were set up for students to put down their stuff, while also making room for their painting activities and food. The room was quiet at first as everyone settled down but quickly became a space where many voices were heard and friendly and meaningful conversations were had.
“It was great seeing everyone show up and unwind for a little,” said Vice President, Anjali Makanji. “I hope we see the same turnout at our next events.”
Students left the event with Valentine’s Day cards in hand, feeling more relaxed and connected. It wasn’t just about the art, but about the sense of community that this event provided.

This club advocates for mental health and their goal is to empower others and create a supportive community for students on campus. In the past they have hosted events such as, game nights, and Halloween costume competitions. They also have activities like, yoga, journaling and workshops with speakers. They understand that college can be hard for students at times and want to provide a place for anyone to come, unwind and even make close friendships as well.
“We want to have more events like these where students can connect with one another,” said President Fiorella Giuliana, “I was thinking maybe we could do something like sunset yoga.”
