US Mint drops penny from production
Between increasing production costs and the rise of digital payments.
Branch Manager of MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Nalini Gajadharsingh says the penny costs more to make then it’s worth.
With pennies being discontinued, businesses are choosing to round up or down to an interval of five to counteract the discontinuation.
“If you’re rounding down, it’ll be a cost to the business. If you’re rounding up, it’s a cost to us, the consumer,” Gajadharsingh said.
USF Women’s Volleyball heads to NCAA

For the first time since 2002, the USF Women’s Volleyball Team is heading to the Big Dance.
“It was fabulous news,” said head coach Jolene Shepardson. “We ran around and celebrated for a long time.”
Shepardson was on that last tournament roster almost 23 years ago.
USF earned an at-large bid this season, finishing in second place in the AAC with a record of 17 and 12.
The Bulls will play the defending champions, Penn State, in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Sophomore setter Reagan Richardson says she’s looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s a great opportunity and I think we’ve proven we can compete with everybody,” Richardson said. “So this is the best test.”
