Which Thanksgiving favorites are safe for your dog
Dog owners should be cautious with the kinds of food they share with their pets during the holiday season as some foods may be dangerous.
Some foods to keep away from your dog are onions, mashed potatoes, ham, turkey bones, casseroles, garlic, grapes and stuffing. According to experts at the American Kennel Club, these foods contain ingredients that may be unsafe for dogs.
Tampa Bay Humane Society volunteer Tim Scheu says he avoids feeding sugary foods to his dogs.
“There are foods that are dangerous to dogs like grapes and macadamia nuts and chocolate,
anything with a lot of sugar I think is typically bad,” Scheu said.
Dogs can safely enjoy healthy treats such as apples, peas, pumpkin, sweet potato and boneless turkey. Check with your local vet to know what’s safe to give to your furry friends this Thanksgiving.
These grocery stores are offering big savings on Thanksgiving family meals
Grocery stores Aldi’s and Walmart are offering affordable meal deals for families this Thanksgiving.
Aldi’s Thanksgiving deal will feed up to 10 people for under $47. With their lowest-priced Thanksgiving basket in five years, you can feed your family for just $4.70 per person. This basket includes many classic Thanksgiving favorites such as turkey, stuffing, mac and cheese and pie.
Walmart’s Thanksgiving deal is even lower than last year. This basket comes with 29 different items to build your Thanksgiving feast for less than $56. Shoppers can take advantage of this inflation-free deal online or in-store.
These budget-friendly deals not only appeal to families, but college students as well. University of South Florida student Kayla Milicette feels Aldi’s basket will help her save money while hosting a friends-giving.
“The prices of things nowadays are insane like it used to be $10 for a turkey but now it’s
like $20 by itself so the fact that Aldis has the package deal it’s really cool because it allows
us to save money, especially on the sides like mashed potatoes and that type of stuff,” Milicette said.
Aldi’s Thanksgiving deal ends November 27 while Walmart’s will continue until December 24.
