Free parking scratched at Indian Rocks Beach
Original reporting by Grace Senecal
Make sure to download the Park Mobile app if you plan to head to Indian Rocks Beach this weekend.
It is no longer free to park at the beach.
City leaders voted to change the 182 free beach spots to paid parking as part of a new program.
It is now $4.50 an hour to park at the beach.
This project will likely earn $1,000 in revenue for the city’s hurricane recovery fund.
New downtown Tampa dog park
Original reporting by Zoe Sax

The new parks were built as part of a recent expansion plan.
“You come out, meet a friend, you come out, you meet a business contact, you come out and, you know, your dog runs around. And, you know, it’s a great way to engage with your neighbors and meet people cause otherwise, you know you’re just kind of trapped indoors so it’s really a little bit of a town square,” Tampa Parks and Recreation Coordinator Lawerence Hollyfield.
Both the small and large-breed parks have water fountains, waste stations and lots of shade.
“I think it’s a great initiative to create a space for our pups to play around. You know they have their set space. And, you know, it kind of brings people out, gives them something to do within the day,” said Tampa resident Hannah Steuwart.
