An update on the Tropicana Field after Hurricane Milton

Hurricane Milton wreaked havoc on the Tropicana Field, the beloved home of the Tampa Bay Rays, last month. The city of St. Petersburg is planning to spend around $6.5 million to clean up and guard against further harm to the stadium.

The city council voted to approve two contracts with firms to clear pieces of the roof, remove damaged turf and do some waterproofing. An ongoing analysis will determine a timeline to make full repairs on the Trop.

The MLB wants the team to play home games in the area if the stadium is not ready by 2025.

The Rays will be playing at the Steinbrenner Field for the 2025 season as roof repair is expected to finish in the fall 2026 season.

The Ybor Arts Tour offers a unique way to explore the city

The Ybor Arts Tour is a multi-stop self-guided tour for art lovers of all kinds. The tour lasts from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow — the afterparty at The Bricks will last until 11 p.m.

Anyone who participates in the tour has the opportunity to visit 13 different places with even more artists. Participants will receive wristbands on the way that will give them discounts at the afterparty.

Kress Contemporary is a staple of the Ybor arts community and is a main stop on the tour. Eight artists with Kress of different disciplines are open for the tour. They will be opening at 6 p.m. and closing at 8 p.m.

One gallery that will be open at Kress tomorrow is Art Noire Gallery. This gallery is members-only, but they will be offering a look inside tomorrow. They are currently showcasing ARCHIVES:333 by Jay Coachman. This exhibition lasts until December 8th.

“We are losing the emphasis of the artist, the creative in the space and in Tampa,” Art Noire Gallerist Camille Washington said. “So I’m really excited that the tour is happening because we get to highlight our culture, we get to highlight what it means to be here, and the artists and the beauty that actually gets to come through the city.”

Some stops on the tour will host performances while others give an opportunity to meet local artists.

“It’s just good to have a way to, especially for introducing people that aren’t really familiar with everything that Ybor offers. It’s just a great way of being like here’s the whole kind of round-up,” owner of Coastal Film Lab Stephen Swett said.
