Liam Salb despises the idea of watching a game of sports. “I much prefer indoor activities, sports has just never resonated with me the way it has with others,” he says.

Despite these preconceived notions, Salb has never actually been to a live sporting event. “So many of my friends love sports, hockey in particular. I want to see if I’m missing out on something due to a lack of personal experience,” he says.

On March 31, he went to a Tampa Bay Lightning hockey game to answer a simple question: can someone biased against sports change their mind if they actually make an effort to understand them?
