Students at the Zimmerman School are gaining real-world media experience through internships at InEd Studios, where hands-on training is helping them build skills beyond the classroom.

In his time in the Marines, Luis Gonzales Salgado produced videos for YouTube and live-streamed video games in his free time. His education began with his own research and web tutorials. His drive to keep learning led him to the Zimmerman School of Mass Communication.

“I would love to do TV, I would love to do film, how can I get into that?” Salgado shares.

With his time at the Zimmerman School, he was gifted great professors and great projects to learn more about his passions. However, for Salgado, it didn’t stop there:

“I was hungry,” says Salgado, “I was seeking opportunity.”

Salgado began volunteering at InEd in the spring of 2025. “Whether I got picked up as an intern or not, this was valuable; this doesn’t exist everywhere.”

InEd Studio is located on the University of South Florida’s Tampa campus. In partnership with the university, it produces videos ranging from online course videos to large-scale commercials. With two studios and two large-screen volume walls, it uses pioneering technology to produce high-quality videos.

“It takes it to another level, as far as industry, technology, the equipment, the cameras, the knowledge, and the resources. Just having those opportunities has really shown me the difference between what we can do as students and what we can get as professionals.”
