USF’s new president spent his first day on campus.

“Here, at the Mashall Student Center, USF’s new president Moez Limayem just came to meet students and share his vision for the future of the university,” said USF President Moez Limayem.

Limayem spent his first hours as the new leader of USF buying coffee and shaking hands with students.

After, he got to work assuring that “Bulls Nation” would never be kept in the dark.

“If you look at my career, I never, ever, go to my office, close the door, and make decisions alone,” said Limayem.

Limayem left as the Dean of USF’s Muma College of Business in 2022 to become the president of the University of North Florida.

As a returning bull, he adds the growing momentum of the AAU university is undeniable, especially with a new football stadium on the way.

“The very first day, we have a full stadium, cheering ‘go bulls,’ and we start the first game. And at that time, that start, and you will see that it was absolutely worth it,” said Limayem.

Along with school spirit, he adds that his main priority is always the faculty, students and staff.

Although Feb. 17 was Limayem’s first official day on campus, the Florida Board of Governors approved him back in Dec.

Zoo Tampa’s panther has died

Original reporting by Hanna Lau Gleciano

The beloved Florida Panther Lucy has died.

Lucy was diagnosed with cancer in 2024.

For nearly two decades, Lucy has inspired many through her story as a Zoo Tampa rescue, left abandoned by her mother.

Making her mark on the world, she served as an advocate for her endangered species in places like New York and was on a U.S. postage stamp.

“The irony isn’t lost to me that we unfortunately said goodbye to her on Valentine’s Day because this is an animal that uh not only captured all of our hearts here but uh really she had a global impact,” said Senior Vice President of Zoo Tampa Chris Massaro.

Lucy’s enclosure will remain empty till the zoo finds another panther to fill the big paws left behind.
