Social media trends can change overnight, which can make it hard for college students to keep up with the latest fashion styles without breaking the bank.

Some students are turning to thrift stores and secondhand shopping to find affordable pieces and to create their own looks.

Viral fashion trends and outfit inspiration are all inspired by social media.

Social media is constantly introducing the next big thing, but for college students on a budget… keeping up with those trends can become pricey.

Instead of buying new things, some students are searching for secondhand finds.

[Social media influences] A lot… definitely more so Pinterest. I would say I feel like I constantly like making different boards, saving different outfit ideas. Like I’m always looking online for outfits

Thrift stores and resale shops offer another way to refresh a wardrobe without spending as much.

Finding unique pieces allows them to experiment with their personal style while putting their own spin on popular trends.

With trends constantly changing online, secondhand shopping gives students another option.

A thrift store? Yeah definitely. Capris, like, all of a sudden resurfaced. I’m wearing capris right now, as I love. Yeah, I get a lot of it from social media

Whether students are looking for a new viral trend or a one-of-a-kind find, students are showing that staying on trend does not always mean buying brand new.
