Cubana heritage was on display recently in Tampa.
The second annual Sabor Cubano Festival was back in Tampa on Saturday and showcased the rich traditions of Cuba.
With a big Cuban presence in Florida, this festival brought together those of Cuban heritage and the community.
“Tampa’s such a city that’s built on its Cuban heritage and culture. I mean when people think of Tampa, they think Cuban sandwiches. They think Cuban cigars, especially in Ybor. Cuban coffees, so it’s really good to be out here in these events where there is a strong Cuban presence,” said Hard Rock Ambassador Michael Smith.
Event goers enjoyed authentic Cuban cuisine, live music, a domino tournament and an exclusive selection of Tampa cigars.
“And once you see the community come together to make those steps and dance. It’s just something that it makes- it gives you goosebumps to see all the happiness going around,” said Sabor Cubano Event Coordinator Tatiana Cox Lopez.
If you missed the event, the festival will be back in 2027.

Original reporting by Grace Senecal
Downtown Tampa is getting a taste of farm life, with a local farm hosting education days.
Meachum Urban Farms is a 2-acre organic and sustainable farm right in the heart of Tampa.
The farm has a market where you can buy fresh produce, and it hosts events such as community dinners and workshops.
The farm partners with the Hillsborough County School District to host field trips as well as homeschool education days.
“A big part of what we do here is our education. So, it’s really important to the farm is the educational component on it,” said Owner of Meachum Urban Farms Joe Dalessio.
Students get hands-on learning in gardening and sustainability. They get to see what a working farm looks like and how the community supports it.
