Hamilton returns to Tampa, bringing Broadway magic to the Straz Center

One of Broadway’s biggest shows is coming back to Tampa, with thousands of viewers piling in to see it. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, Hamilton is back at the Straz Center.

Hamilton returns to Tampa for the first time since 2023, with performances taking place in the Morsani Hall at the Straz. The show will run for 24 performances over 19 days.

Summer Bohincamp, executive producer and chief commerce and marketing officer, said the production expects to draw another massive crowd this year.

“The first time the show came through, 80,000 people came to see the show. This time, 60,000 are here for a week less than before,” Bohnincamp said. “60,000 people will see the show, and none of those folks, maybe a small handful, will have been to New York or seen it somewhere else.”

For the people working behind the scenes, the impact is measured in more ways than just ticket sales.

Natasha Brown, the Senior Communications Manager at the Straz Center, said it’s about giving audiences a chance to experience something meaningful and to disconnect from the worries of everyday life.

“This is why all of us at the theater do what we do. The people on the road and the people in New York, you’re giving people a chance to step away from their world for a little while,” Brown said. “Hopefully not be on their phone or whatever device, to experience something that’s going to make them think. So, I hope that everybody enjoys it as much as we do.”

Hamilton will be showing at the Straz until Nov. 8.

Zephyrhills baker turns home bakery into growing porch pickup business

Original reporting: Madison Perez

Porch bakeries have become the newest trend, a small home-based business where a baker prepares goods in their home kitchen and then sells them directly to neighbors from their front porch.

Chelsey Roberts, a baker in Zephyrhills, operates her bakery out of her shed, where she stocks her baked goods.

Roberts has been running the porch pickup bakery since June 2026.

“Last year, my husband and I started doing local events, and it just grew over the past year, and now we have our farm stand,” Roberts said. “Which has been a long-time dream of mine, so that’s where it all started.”

Beyond selling baked goods, Roberts also said she’s been able to build personal connections with her customers and foster new relationships.

“I feel like I can really connect with my customers. I feel like you might not get that a lot if you have a commercial bakery,” Roberts said.

Customers can place an order online via a Hotplate link and pick it up the following weekend.
